Common questions about using Blue.
Account & Access
How do I reset my password?
Blue uses magic links instead of passwords. To sign in:
- Enter your email address
- Click the link sent to your email
- You’re signed in!
If you signed up with Google, Apple, or Microsoft, use that service to sign in.
I’m not receiving the sign-in email
- Check your spam/junk folder
- Verify you’re using the correct email address
- Wait a few minutes and try again
- Contact your league administrator if issues persist
How do I change my email address?
Contact your league administrator to update your email address.
For Umpires
How do I sign up for games?
- Browse the game schedule
- Find games marked “Umpire Needed”
- Click on the game and select Assign Me

Can I drop a game I signed up for?
Yes, but do so as early as possible:
- Open the game details
- Click Remove Assignment
- The game returns to the available pool
Some leagues restrict dropping games close to game time.
Why can’t I see any games?
- Your league may not have games scheduled yet
- Check your filters (date range, division)
- Make sure you’re in the correct league
- Contact your league administrator
How do I get notifications?
Enable notifications in your profile settings. Choose from:
- Push notifications (real-time)
- SMS text messages

For Administrators
How do I add umpires to my league?
- Go to Umpire Roster
- Click Invite Umpire
- Enter their email address
- They’ll receive an invitation to join
Can umpires sign up for their own games?
Yes, by default. You can disable self-assignment in league settings if you prefer to assign umpires manually.
How do I import my game schedule?
Blue supports importing games from spreadsheets. Contact support for import templates and assistance.
How do I cancel a game?
- Open the game details
- Click Cancel Game
- Assigned umpires are notified automatically
Technical Issues
I see an “Update Available” message
When a new version of Blue is released, you’ll see a notification prompting you to update. Tap Update Now and the app will reload with the latest version. If the update doesn’t seem to take effect, try closing and reopening the app. On iOS, swipe up from the app switcher to fully close it, then reopen from the home screen.
The app isn’t loading
- Check your internet connection
- Try refreshing the page
- Clear your browser cache
- Try a different browser
Notifications aren’t working
- Check notification permissions in your browser
- Verify notifications are enabled in your profile
- Check that your phone number is correct (for SMS)
The app looks different on my phone
Mobile users are automatically redirected to our dedicated mobile app at m.assign.blue . The mobile app is optimized for phones with touch-friendly controls and essential umpire features. The full web app at assign.blue is desktop-optimized with all administrative features. Administrators can disable the redirect via the Help menu if they need to access admin-only features on mobile.
