Requesting Games
When self-assignment is disabled for a game (such as during tournaments or special events), you can still express interest by requesting the game. Administrators will see your request and can assign you.
How Game Requests Work
- Find Games Without Self-Assign - Look for games where the self-assign option is disabled
- Request the Game - Click the hand icon to express interest
- Admin Reviews - League or district admins see your request
- Get Assigned - If selected, you’ll be assigned and notified
Requesting a Game
To request a game:
- Navigate to the game schedule
- Look for games with a hand icon (these have self-assign disabled)
- Click the hand icon to open the request dialog
- Click Request Game to submit your interest
- The icon will highlight to show you’ve requested
The hand icon shows a badge with the total number of requests, so you can see how many other umpires are interested.
Cancelling a Request
If you change your mind:
- Click the hand icon on a game you’ve requested
- Click Cancel Request
- Your request is removed
When to Request vs. Self-Assign
| Scenario | What You’ll See |
|---|---|
| Regular season games | Self-assign buttons (claim directly) |
| Tournament games | Hand icon (request and wait for assignment) |
| Special events | Hand icon (request and wait for assignment) |
Requesting a game does not guarantee assignment. Administrators make final decisions based on crew balance, experience, and availability.
Tracking Your Requests
- Games you’ve requested show a highlighted hand icon
- Once assigned, you’ll receive a notification
- Check the game details to confirm your assignment
