Blue Mobile is a dedicated mobile web app designed specifically for umpires. It provides a streamlined, touch-friendly experience for managing your assignments on the go.

Getting Started

New Users

If you’re new to Blue, the mobile app guides you through a simple onboarding flow:

1. Visit m.assign.blue  on your phone
2. Tap Sign Up to create your account
3. Sign in with Google, Apple, Microsoft, or email
4. Complete the Profile Setup flow with your required information:
   • Name and contact details
   • Date of birth
   • Address information
   • Emergency contact (for adults) or parent/guardian contact (for youth umpires)
5. Once your profile is complete, you’re ready to start viewing and claiming games

Existing Users

If you already have a Blue account, simply sign in at m.assign.blue . If your profile is incomplete, you’ll be prompted to complete the setup before accessing the app.

Features

Games at a Glance

• View your upcoming game assignments
• See open positions that need umpires
• Quick one-tap sign-up for available games
• Filter by upcoming games, games needing umpires, or your assignments
• Filter by league to focus on specific leagues
• Tap any game card to view full details
• Cancelled games show a Canceled badge and cancellation reason directly on the game card

Game Details

Tap a game card to open the full detail page for that game. The detail page shows:

• Team matchup with your assigned position highlighted
• Date & time
• Game details — league, division, site, field, and game type
• Notes from the league admin (if any)
• Crew — see who’s assigned and which positions are still open

You can sign up for open positions or remove yourself from a position directly from the detail page.

Crew Contacts

The crew section shows inline call and text icons next to each fellow crew member, so you can quickly get in touch. For youth umpires (under 18), parent/guardian contact information is displayed instead of the umpire’s direct number.

Email Crew

When a game has two or more assigned umpires, an Email Crew button appears below the crew list. Tap it to compose an email to all other crew members on the game.

• The subject line is pre-filled with the game matchup and date
• A rich-text editor lets you format your message with bold, italic, lists, etc.
• If any recipient is a minor, a banner notifies you that their parent/guardian will automatically be CC’d

Game Emails

All sent emails related to a game appear in a Game Emails section on the detail page. Tap any email to read it in full, and use the Newer / Older navigation to move between messages.

Create & Edit Games (Admins)

League, district, and global admins can create and edit games directly from the mobile app.

Creating a game:

1. Tap the + button in the top-right corner of the Games page
2. Select a league, then fill in the teams, date, time, site, and game type
3. Optionally set a division, game config, bracket level, field, notes, and self-assign toggle
4. Tap Create Game

Editing a game:

1. Open the game detail page by tapping a game card
2. Tap the pencil icon in the top-right corner
3. Make your changes and tap Save Changes

Filter by League

You can filter the Games page to show only games from specific leagues:

1. On the Games page, tap the All Leagues chip in the filter bar
2. This opens a dedicated filter page showing all available leagues
3. Tap leagues to select or deselect them (checkmarks indicate selected leagues)
4. Use Select All to select all leagues, or Clear All to deselect all
5. Tap Done to apply your selection and return to the games list
6. Tap the back arrow to cancel and return without changes

The filter chip shows your current selection:

• All Leagues - No filter applied, showing games from all leagues
• League Name - Showing games from one specific league
• Multiple leagues - Showing games from several selected leagues

The league filter works in combination with the status filters (Upcoming, Needs Umpires, My Games, All), so you can narrow down to exactly the games you’re looking for.

Set Your Availability

• Easy-to-use calendar view
• Tap any date to mark yourself as available, partially available, or unavailable
• Visual indicators show your availability at a glance

Manage Your Profile

• Edit your complete profile - Update contact info, emergency contact, address, and more
• Upload profile picture - Take a photo or choose from your library
• Configure notification preferences - Control how you receive notifications (email, SMS, push)
• Calendar sync - Get your webcal URL to subscribe in your calendar app
• League approvals (for admins) - Review and approve provisional umpires

Install as an App

Blue Mobile is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can install it directly to your phone’s home screen for quick access. Once installed, the app runs in fullscreen mode without browser controls, just like a native app.

iPhone / iPad (Safari)

1. Open m.assign.blue  in Safari
2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up) at the bottom of the screen
3. Scroll down in the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen
4. Give the app a name (or keep “Blue Mobile”) and tap Add
5. The app icon will appear on your home screen

Android (Chrome)

1. Open m.assign.blue  in Chrome
2. Tap the menu button (three dots in the top right)
3. Tap Add to Home screen or Install app
4. Tap Add or Install to confirm
5. The app icon will appear on your home screen or in your app drawer

Designed for Mobile

Blue Mobile is built from the ground up for phones:

• Large touch targets - Easy to tap, even on small screens
• Bottom navigation - Everything is within thumb reach
• Offline support - View your assignments even without internet
• Push notifications - Get alerts about new assignments and game changes

Desktop vs Mobile

The mobile app now includes full profile management, notification settings, league admin approval tools, and game creation/editing for admins. District-level settings and user management remain on the desktop site.
