League Settings

Configure your league’s preferences and behavior in Blue.

League settings are currently managed by your district administrator. A dedicated league admin settings page is coming soon. In the meantime, contact your district admin to make changes to league configuration, positions, game types, or divisions.

General Settings

League Information

  • League Name - Displayed throughout the app
  • Abbreviation - Short code for your league (e.g., “WSLL”)
  • Description - Optional description of the league

URL Slug

Each league has a unique URL slug that allows you to share a direct link to your league’s games. For example, if your slug is west-side-ll, umpires can go directly to:

https://assign.blue/games?league=west-side-ll

This will show only games for your league, making it easy for umpires to find your games without manually filtering.

How it works:

  • Slugs are automatically generated from your league name when the league is created
  • League admins can customize the slug in the league edit form
  • Slugs must be globally unique - no two leagues can have the same slug
  • Only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens are allowed

Share your league’s game URL with umpires in emails or group chats. They can bookmark it for quick access to your games.

Assignment Mode

Choose how umpires are assigned to games:

  • Self-Assignment - Umpires claim their own games
  • Admin Only - Only administrators can assign

Use self-assignment for regular season and switch to admin-only for tournaments and playoffs.

Notification Settings

Configure automatic notifications:

Reminder Timing

  • Set when game reminders are sent (24 hours, 48 hours, etc.)

Notification Recipients

  • Choose who receives different notification types
  • Customize messages for your league

Divisions

Configure which district divisions your league uses and optionally customize their names.

Selecting Divisions

On the league edit page, you’ll see all available divisions from your district. Check the ones your league uses — only selected divisions will appear in the game form when creating or editing games for your league.

If no divisions are selected, all league-level district divisions are shown by default.

Custom Division Names

After selecting a division, you can enter a custom name in the text field next to it. For example, your district might have a division called “Majors” but your league calls it “AAA”. The custom name will be displayed throughout the app — in game lists, reports, calendar feeds, and notifications — while the original district name is preserved behind the scenes.

Hover over the info icon next to a division name to see the description provided by your district administrator, which can help you understand what each division is for.
